Hamzah Sheeraz Eyes Up Chris Eubank Jr Fight on Anthony Joshua Undercard at Wembley Stadium

Must read

Hamzah Sheeraz has his eyes set on the biggest fight of his career so far against Chris Eubank Jr. After stopping Austin Williams in the 11th round, just over a week ago, Sheeraz hopes to appear on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in September.

Hamzah Sheeraz Dreams of Chris Eubank Jr Fight in September

Rising middleweight prospect, Sheeraz, passed his most recent test on the Matchroom vs Queensbury 5v5 with flying colours. He ultimately secured the WBC Silver Middleweight title and now calls for a domestic dust-up with Eubank Jr.

In an interview with Louis Hart of Boxing Social, Sheeraz said, “In an ideal world, yes (to Eubank Jr next). It would be an honour to share the ring with boxing royalty, and at the same time give me a chance to prove myself to show that I do believe in my ability. I believe in Frank’s (Warren) ability to believe in me, that I am the best 160-pounder in the division. And this gives me a chance to domestically prove it, and then eventually win a world title and prove it on the world scene. So now it’s just a matter of taking the right steps and whatnot.”

The 25-year-old continued, “I think (Sheeraz vs Eubank Jr) is the only fight, bar Conor Benn, that makes sense for (Eubank Jr). And the reason why I say that is because, financially, he will get, I think, what he wants. There’s no secret in behind how His Excellency Turki Alalshikh and the Saudis have enhanced boxer’s pay.”

Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois Undercard

When asked if he wanted to fight Eubank Jr on the Joshua vs Dubois undercard, rumoured for September, Sheeraz said, “Wembley Stadium. British Crowd. Two British fighters. 160 (lbs). Probably the two, one and two names in the UK, and you could possibly argue in the world as well, so I think it makes sense and I don’t want to sit here and disrespect him and say, ‘Oh yeah, I’d f*ck him up’, this that and the other. I believe I would win, yes, 100%. But, I think, for the fans and for the public, it would be a great fight.”

With an all-British IBF heavyweight title clash set to headline Wembley in a few months, Sheeraz could continue to boost his profile on the biggest stage, yet again.
