A picturesque UK seaside town with sandy beaches and charming historic buildings is home to the ‘best’ seafood in England making it the perfect staycation spot.

Wells-next-the-Sea is a port town on the north coast of Norfolk which has a breathtaking coastline, quaint shops, welcoming cafes and historic buildings.

Famous for its sweeping beach, Wells-next-the-Sea beach is a beautiful sandy stretch backed by colourful, unique beach huts making it the perfect staycation.

Making waves in the town is Wells Crab House Seafood Restaurant, named the overall Best Seafood Establishment and Restaurant of the Year at The Food Awards England 2023.

This is the second year in a row that Wells Crab House has won the regional category for seafood establishment Husband and wife owned this friendly restaurant is the place to enjoy delicious, local and seasonal seafood dishes and is just a stone’s throw from the idyllic harbour.

Wells Crab House consists of only 12 tables creating an intimate, cosy feeling. It wouldn’t be a true British seaside town without fish and chips and Wells-next-the-Sea has an abundance of chippies. 

Located on the Quay you will find French’s Fish Shop, an award winning family owned fish and chip shop with over 100 years of history.

This restaurant has stunning panoramic views of the quay making it a favourite with locals and tourists alike. French’s has a special board showcasing their freshly caught fish.

Bustling with activity is Wells Harbour which is a hugely popular quayside. Here you can relax while watching the fishing boats coming and going.

You can also enjoy Wells by the water by taking one of the town’s coastal charters.  You will see lots of wildlife, amazing views of the beach, and marshland. Tours depart from East Quay and every tip is aboard the Historic Lifeboat and Dunkirk Veteran ‘Lucy Lavers’ a stunning, restored lifeboat. 

The town has a range of stylish hotels, homely B&Bs and cosy self catering holiday cottages.
