Jamaica, the Caribbean Sea’s fourth largest island, have welcomed leisure travelers, business travelers and digital nomads with the easiest visa free policies. Its inviting climate makes it a top choice for those seeking to escape colder temperatures. The island’s enticing beaches, renowned for their pristine white sands and clear blue waters, draw numerous visitors each year. In 2024, Jamaica has already greeted a record-breaking two million visitors.

The island confirmed its status as a top global island destination with its 2023 tourism figures revealing an unprecedented 4.1 million visitors, marking a 25.5% increase in tourism compared to 2022.

TTW CEO Mr. Anup Keshan Said, “The remarkable start to 2024, along with last year’s surge in tourism, reflects the dynamic spirit of the island and various elements like additional flights, new hotel accommodations, and a rising global interest. The ease of entry has encouraged highest number of tourists to place their choice on this visa free destination.”

In 2021, Jamaica saw nearly 1.3 million overnight tourists from the United States, making it the leading source of international visitors to the island. The United Kingdom followed, contributing 74 thousand tourists. The island recorded 1.7 million visitors in the first five months of 2024, including 1,016,185 stopover tourists and over 700,000 cruise passengers by early May, generating approximately US$1.8 billion in revenue.

2024 continues to be a banner year for Jamaica’s tourism, following a strong 2023 which saw 4.1 million arrivals, a 25.5% increase from 2022. Tourism has already generated $1.9 billion in revenue in 2024 and is on track to contribute nearly $5 billion by 2025.

Growth is predominantly driven by U.S. tourists, with significant increases particularly from New York (over 350,000 visitors) and Florida (over 326,000 visitors). The Midwest and West also saw substantial growth, with increases of 23.3% and 16.8%, respectively. Projections indicate that Jamaica is on course to welcome 5 million visitors and generate US$ 5 billion by 2025.
