I stayed at UK’s cheapest seaside hotel – and 1 thing really surprised me

A man who spent a night in the UK’s cheapest hotel, priced at just £16-a-night, has said he would return. George Redfern, 21, checked into the Coco Beach Hotel in Blackpool on June 14, 2024.

Despite its two-star rating on Booking.com and being the most affordable hotel in the country, George found his stay more pleasant than anticipated. The content creator from Wirral, Merseyside, expressed his surprise at the cleanliness of the budget accommodation, stating: “It surprised me how clean it was for a hotel that cheap, and I probably would stay there again.”

He added: “If I was to give a rating it would probably be a three and a half out of five,” attributing this to the room size and shower system.

George had booked the room after searching for the cheapest hotel in the UK. Upon arrival, he admitted: “I knew a bit of what I looked like, and I knew it was going to be a run down hotel. I knew it wasn’t going to be the nicest.”

He also encountered a minor issue gaining access due to the landlord’s broken phone, but this was resolved by another local hotelier.

Once inside his room, George noted it was generally clean, although there were some marks on the curtains. He observed: “For the price it was a clean, but there was marks on the curtains, and I noticed that quite early.”

He also mentioned some spray on the wall which might deter other guests.

“I got free towel, coffee facilities. There wasn’t much room in the room itself. The bed was clean, and the floor was clean but the shower didn’t get too hot.”
