English village named ‘poshest’ place to live in the UK

Must read

Based on a 2024 report, 44 of the “poshest” villages across England have been revealed. Factors included in the final decision-making process included an area’s outstanding natural beauty, its commute time to major hubs, and average house prices.

One area, for example, has an average house price reaching £1.4million, which is up to six times more than other more modest villages.

This isn’t one or two houses – or even a row – of expensive homes in a little area, but the overall average of the place as a whole.

As such, most people living in the area are likely to be residing in an asset worth millions of pounds; so, where is this place?

One place considered to be the poshest in England, according to the report by The Telegraph, is Harpsden in Oxfordshire, but there’s more.

Harpsden in Oxfordshire

The semi-rural village, by Harpsden Woods, is only a mile or so south from the beautiful town of Henley-on-Thames, where the Henley Royal Regatta rowing event takes place every year.

While Harpsden is firmly a residential area, with no train station or shops in sight, there is a home on Rightmove going for nearly £9million.

Most famously, the pretty village of Harpsden has starred in a couple episodes of ITV’s Agatha Christie’s Marple – namely, Nemesis and By the Pricking of My Thumbs.

Another pretty village classified as one of the poshest in England is Walberswick in Suffolk, which is by the River Blyth.
