Wetherspoons is known for its purse-friendly pints, but there are some pub branches in the UK which offer far more affordable beers than other destinations. In fact, according to a new analysis, the cheapest Wetherspoons beer in the UK is more than half the price of a pint at Wetherspoons branches in London.

Industry data platform Stocklytics examined the average cost of pints of Carling, Budweiser, Guinness, Heineken, Peroni and Stella at every Wetherspoons branch in the UK.

Based on their research, they found that Wath-upon-Dearne in South Yorkshire is the home of the cheapest Wetherspoons pint in the nation on average.

According to Stocklytics, The Church House in Wath-upon-Dearne has an average pint price of just £3.19. The most affordable option at this establishment is a Carling at £2.49, whilst a Heineken will set you back £4.22.

However, the single cheapest pint in the UK can be found in The Penny Black pub in Cheshire. The establishment was found to have an average pint price of £3.29. a pint of Carling will set you back just £1.99.

South Yorkshire proved to be a great value location as it scored the second cheapest spot on the list too. The analysis found that the Horseshoe in Wombell has an average pint cost of £3.23 – but you can snap up a pint of Carling and Guinness for just £2.63.

The county of Tyne and Wear was also highlighted for its bargain beverages. The Sir William de Wessyngton in Washington was found to have an average pint price of just £3.23, while The Harry Clasper in the nearby village of Whickham was found to have an average cost of £3.24.

Of course, there are certain parts of the country where the cost of beer begins to soar.

By comparison, The Moon Under Water pub in Westminster, London charges an eye-watering £6.07 for a pint of Carling or Guinness, which means customers pay over £4 more for the same drink as they would at the Horseshoe in Wombell.

London and the South East of England proved to be some of the most expensive areas.

Only two of the top 10 most expensive locations are outside of London, with the average pint cost at The Atrium in Birmingham, West Midlands amounting to £6.48.

But it’s the city of Edinburgh that’s home to the most expensive establishment. The Sir Walter Scott pub has an average pint price of £6.80, which is roughly a 112 percent increase from the cheapest.
