Jay Slater updates as key piece of evidence found on body in Tenerife search

Must read

Documents belonging to Jay Slater have been recovered from the body found in Tenerife, with a court on the island warning it will take days to identify the cause of death.

Officials have suggested Mr Slater died as a result of an “accidental fall” while the Canary Islands High Court of Justice said it would probably not be until next week for a probable cause of death to be reached.

The court told the BBC: “It is confirmed that the documentation that was on the body found yesterday in the mountains of Masca belongs to Jay Slater and everything suggests that it was an accidental fall.”

On Monday, it was announced that a body was found in a ravine in the remote Masca region of Tenerife alongside Jay’s “possessions and clothes”. Missing persons charity, LBT Global, said the body looked to be that of Mr Slater

It added: “It is understood the body was found close to the site of his mobile phone’s last location.”

Jay went missing on June 17 after a night out with his friends Lucy Law and Brad Hargreaves. Miss Law paid tribute to the teen calling him “the happiest person in the room”.
