A reported mass IT outage has grounded flights, stopped trains, and impacted businesses across the world. Major issues have been reported in the UK, as well as countries including Australia, USA, Japan and New Zealand.

On X, formerly Twitter, a post from the official Microsoft 365 account read: “We’re investigating an issue impacting users’ ability to access various Microsoft 365 apps and services”. Elsewhere, American Airlines has delayed all flights due to communications issues.

‌

The US Federal Aviation Administration stated the major US-based carrier had issued a ground stop notice early on Friday. The Mirror reports that while the firm is yet to comment, many disappointed passengers have taken to social media to report issues with their flights this morning, with other services seemingly impacted by technical issues.

In the UK, the Sky News channel is off air due to the outages. The BBC reports that the company’s executive chairman said the channel has not been able to broadcast live this morning.

Berlin Airport posted on X that it is experiencing delays to check-ins due to a “technical fault”. And in Spain an “incident” has been reported at all of the country’s airports.
