Camilla sparks fan frenzy with major fashion moment on Guernsey state visit

Must read

Queen Camilla was the epitome of elegance today as she arrived in Guernsey for her and King Charles‘s second day of their whistlestop tour of the Channel Islands.

The King and Queen, who were in Jersey on Monday, attended a special sitting of Guernsey’s Parliament today, in what is their first visit to the two bailiwicks, which are Crown Dependencies off the north-west coast of France, since the King acceded to the throne.

The Crown Dependencies are not part of the UK but are self-governing possessions of the British Crown.

Camilla looked sensational in a royal blue silk crepe dress and coat by Fiona Clare which she paired with a pair of beige black-toe sensible heels. She also sported a support bandage on her right ankle due to a sprain on Monday.

She accessorised the ensemble with a pair of diamond earrings and a striking pearl necklace, which she’s worn several times before.

The stunning piece consists of four strings of pearls and a fitted diamond clasp and is said to be among Camilla’s most sentimental pieces of jewellery she owns.

Royal fans loved the Queen’s latest style choice and took to social media to praise her.

One user wrote on X: “I think this is my favourite picture of Queen Camilla. Royal blue really suits her.”

Another one agreed: “It really does.”

A third one said: “100%”

Today, the royal couple were greeted by a 21-gun salute from the Castle Cornet as they arrived at the St Peter Port seafront before Charles, who has returned to public duties while still undergoing cancer treatment, presided over a short special sitting of the States of Deliberation, Guernsey’s Parliament.

The sitting was followed by a Ceremony of Homage, a tradition that is observed when the monarch first visits Guernsey, which is held in French as historic title-holders, seigneurs and dames of small parcels of land known as fiefs pay homage.

Charles was presented with some ceremonial silver spurs. The royal couple, despite Camilla’s injury, went on an impromptu walkabout, greeting many of the well-wishers who had gathered to see them.

Their two-day trip ends one day before the planned State Opening of Parliament on Wednesday, which is also Camilla’s 77th birthday.

Charles and Camilla last visited the Channel Islands during the Diamond Jubilee year of 2012.
