ITV news anchor Becky Jago announced as host for West Suffolk Business awards

ITV news presenter Becky Jago is to host the Bury Free Press West Suffolk Business Awards 2024.

The ITV Anglia news anchor will be presenting the gala black tie event for the second year running.

The awards, open to individuals and businesses across West Suffolk, takes place at The Apex, Charter Square, Bury St Edmunds on October 11.

Nominations close on August 6 at 5pm.

Becky said: “I’m thrilled to be back in my home county hosting the Bury Free Press West Suffolk Business Awards.

“We had a blast last year and I’m really looking forward to meeting all the talented and hardworking entrants later this year. “

Now in its 13th year, the ceremony showcases the best in business across West Suffolk.

Founded in 2010, it is now widely recognised as premier event on the business calender and a golden opportunity for business people to network.

Last year’s event saw more than 200 nominations, with around 250 business people attending from across the district.

The awards cover 13 categories, ranging from Best New Start-up, to Business Leader of the Year and Lifetime Achievement.

Born in Bury St Edmunds, Becky Jago is a former pupil at Stowmarket High School who started her career at Vibe FM radio station, broadcasting across East Anglia.

She then moved to Anglia TV as their weather presenter for two years, alongside working on Channel 5’s The Wright Stuff as their ‘booth girl’.

In 2001, Becky joined the children’s news programme Newsround as main presenter.

Two years later she joined Capital Radio to be Chris Tarrant’s, and then Johnny Vaughan’s side-kick on the breakfast show.

Becky then worked as a reporter for GMTV’s Entertainment Today and Sky Sports News, before returning to ITV News Anglia as a reporter in 2005.

She has been the co-anchor of the ITV Anglia news at 6pm for 16 years.
