Hidden luxury hotel with amazing pool, spa and food that’s perfect for families

Must read

An escape from the day-to-day routine is why holidays are cherished, especially when it involves spending time with loved ones and skipping mundane household chores like cooking. Close to Surrey, there’s a quaint village harbouring a five-star family hotel that offers these delights plus more.

Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, a luxury resort which sits majestically on a 500-acre estate in lush western Surrey, presents itself as an ideal destination for a summer break. The 18th-century manor house in delightful Dogmersfield, near Fleet, gives you a holiday experience without having to endure the airport stress.

The latest review on Tripadvisor paints the hotel as more appealing to families than couples seeking quiet rejuvenation, contrary to other reviews, Surrey Live reports. The review before that read: “Our first time staying with you and what a wonderful short stay it’s been. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were utterly spoilt and truly looked after.”

Another reviewer shared: “This trip was booked a surprise birthday present for my husband, and what a memorable stay it’s been not just for him but us all as a family. I cannot tell you how wonderfully refreshing it was to stay somewhere that not only felt truly special for the adults but ensures children are equally well looked after.”

“We’ve stayed in many luxury hotels where we’ve not felt particularly comfortable bringing our child with us – but the ethos at the Four Seasons is totally incomparable. They go above and beyond to not only make sure as parents we feel comfortable but make a fuss of the children too.”

This resort isn’t just child-friendly, it’s also welcoming to your four-pawed friends. The hotel channels holiday atmosphere with its generous buffet spread, kids’ entertainment, a dedicated kids’ splash zone, spacious swimming pool and an open-air vitality pool best enjoyed on sun loungers by the pool bar.

If you’re a foodie, be prepared for a morning feast complete with pancakes, pastries, freshly-baked bread, cereal, an assortment of fruits, yoghurt, and steaming hot dishes like sausages, bacon, eggs, hash browns, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms.

Those desiring a taste of Continental fare can savour cold cuts such as ham, cheese, smoked salmon, and fresh local honey. For those whose preference leans towards plant-based options, there are mouth-watering dishes such as falafel, vegetarian sausages, and shakshuka, an exotic North African and Middle Eastern dish featuring poached eggs in a tangy tomato sauce.

Post-breakfast, guests can unwind with a leisurely walk around the gorgeous premises, which even boasts a spa.

Children will undoubtedly delight in the family adventure pool called Sharkie’s Reef, complete with a 4-meter slide, spinning umbrella fountain, and bubble jets. The prime pool, ensconced in a breath-taking glass structure teeming with tropical plants, transports guests to a remote holiday destination.

The main pool is complemented by an outdoor vitality pool, allowing guests to soak up the sun.

Ample sun loungers are provided both by the water and on the upper deck lawn, complete with a pool bar serving refreshing beverages and toasties. An icy water dispenser is available, and additional towels and sun cream are conveniently placed next to the sun beds.

Beyond the pool, guests can take advantage of tennis courts, a high wire adventure course, a play trail, clay pigeon shooting, croquet, cycling and pony trekking. The Wild Carrot restaurant serves a traditional Sunday roast every week.

On the menu is corn-fed roast chicken, salt marsh leg of lamb, dry-aged beef fore rib, as well as vegetarian options like warm quiche or pasta bake and whole grilled sea bream. These are served with honey glazed roasted root vegetables, tender-stem broccoli, triple-cooked potatoes, creamy cauliflower cheese, fluffy Yorkshire pudding and silky smooth house gravy.

Open from 12.30pm until 3pm, guests can savour their meal at a leisurely pace while taking in the stunning countryside views through the restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling windows.
