Grocery retailer Aldi is set to create 1,000 jobs in new stores across the UK by 2025.
Roles available will include managerial positions, caretakers, cleaners and store apprentices.
Starting pay for store assistants at Aldi is £12.40 per hour nationally, rising to £13.35 per hour. Rates inside the M25 London orbital motorway are £13.65 per hour, rising to £13.95 per hour.
Aldi has been praised for its hourly rates and is the only supermarket to provide paid breaks for its staff, a benefit valued at £900 annually for the average store colleague.
In May 2024, Aldi announced its second pay increase for store colleagues within a year, taking the supermarket’s investment in pay in 2024 to £79m.
This investment in people parallels Aldi’s focus on store expansion, as it aims to open 35 new stores across the UK in 2024 with a long-term vision of reaching 1,500.
