UK Deaf Sport Participation in Sport and Physical Activity Survey 2024

UK Deaf Sport are carrying out a survey to find out about the participation of people who are deaf or have a hearing loss in sport and physical activity.

As a thank you, they are offering those who complete the survey the chance to win one of three £100 Amazon vouchers! This is optional and will involve leaving your email address at the end of the survey. Your survey answers will remain anonymous.

The survey can be completed until Thursday 15 August 2024.

LimbPower – July 2024

LimbPower Launches “Active August” Campaign: Embrace Your Inner Athlete

LimbPower, a leading national charity and National Disability Sports Organisation dedicated to supporting amputees and individuals with limb impairments, has launched its highly anticipated ‘Active August’ campaign. This year’s theme, ‘Everyday Champions: Embrace Your Inner Athlete,’ celebrates the spirit of Paralympic sports and encourages everyone, regardless of their age and ability, to engage in physical activities inspired by these incredible athletes and everyday community champions.

Throughout August, LimbPower will share daily posts, activities designed to inspire and motivate participants and daily activity cards for both adults and children. The campaign kicks off with a motivational quote from Paralympian Jonnie Peacock: “I lost my leg at age five… Now I’m 1.9 seconds behind Usain Bolt.” This sets the tone for a month filled with stories of perseverance, tips for staying active, and guides to starting new sports.

British Blind Sport – June 2024

Coaching eLearning

Working with UK Coaching, British Blind Sport has created an elearning course called ‘Coaching Blind and Partially Sighted People’. This course raises awareness of the crucial role coaches play in helping people with visual impairments overcome barriers to participate in sport and physical activity. It complements UK Coaching’s ‘person-centred’ principle of great coaching.

Working in partnership with the relevant NGBs, they have started to roll-out sport-specific bolt on modules:

  • Tennis
  • Swimming
  • Goalball
  • Football

Football bolt on module will be available shortly. These bolt on modules are in addition to the core ‘Coaching Blind and Partially Sighted People’ course to ensure students are equipped with improved knowledge to support blind and partially sighted participants take part in their chosen sport.
