Travelling with particular suitcase can help you exit airports quicker

Must read

We all love jetting off on holidays – but the airport run can be a bit of a slog.

It’s long, tiresome and boring, so many people are always looking for ways to speed it up. And now you just may be able to.

Lots of videos have circulated on TikTok claiming that if you add ribbons to your luggage then it’ll make it easier to spot your suitcase, thus speeding up the process at the baggage area. But, it turns out, it’s not something you should do.

Travel and luxury golf holiday expert, Gareth Llewellyn, of Chaka Travel, said there’s a much more effective solution, and it’s pretty easy. All you need to do is opt for the correct colour bag.

If you opt for a bright colour, your travel experience should run all the more smoothly. It really is as simple as that.

The expert said it’s best to invest in a suitcase in a distinct pattern or colour like red, yellow, green, stripey or even polka dots. This is because personalising your bags with ribbons can often be overlooked and the tags and ribbons can be easily removed during transit.

A bright coloured or unusual piece of luggage is often the quickest way to spot your bag, and will mean you can get out of the airport faster. Passengers flying with expensive and bulky equipment – like golfers – should go the extra mile when it comes to choosing a bag that looks unique and is easy to spot.

This is because it reduces the likelihood of someone else mistakenly taking your bags, and any expensive equipment inside. While many think the colour or design of their suitcase is a minor detail, it can really impact your travel experience and the entire trip.

So choose a distinctive bag – either in terms of colour or pattern – and avoid unnecessary delays to start your holiday on a stress-free note.

What’s more is travel gurus on social media have also warned of other issues ribbon can cause. Apparently, baggage handlers have warned they can actually get caught in machienery, which could lead to delays.

This can even result in your luggage being damaged or lost, which is the last thing you want when you’re travelling. For this reason, it’s advised you should always use a luggage tag for identification purposes.

While the ribbon hack seemed like a simple solution, it turns out it can lead you to a lot more problems than it’s worth. Meanwhile, Gareth’s tip to speed up your journey is problem-free and is pretty easy to pull off.

Next time you need to buy a suitcase, it may be wise to think about what colour you really want.
