Ripped gym mum shares how to ‘reverse ageing’ with simple diet changes

A fitness coach says you can “make your body age in reverse” by making simple lifestyle changes.

Shannon Collins, known as The Gym Nurse to her over 150,000 followers on Instagram, is known for sharing fitness advice online. She’s passionate about empowering women and helping them to feel confident in their own skin.

According to her, the key to ageing well is to build muscle, fuel your body with good food, lift heavy weights and push yourself to failure. If you tick off these boxes, your body should remain youthful.

The ripped mum also said it’s important to track progress, get plenty of rest and ignore the scales if they go up. Progress and success is all about putting the hard work in and having patience.

If you want stop your body from ageing, it will take a lot of hard work and dedication, but all you need to do is make some simple changes.

In the post, Shannon wrote: “Watch your body look younger and younger as you put on muscle. Thin and frail does not give off ‘youthful’.

“Muscle has so many benefits inside and out. Not only will look physically younger, but it will assist in living longer. It’s a win-win.

“Sadly, many women constantly sabotage their efforts by constantly dieting, over exercising and being obsessed with the scale. Muscle weighs something.

“We can’t add something but stay the same at the same time, and why would you want to? Isn’t the point to change?”

Since she shared the post, over 1,500 people liked it, and her followers were quick to comment too. They thanked her for sharing such transparent advice.
