British Masters 2024: Niklas Norgaard has four-shot lead as Tyrrell Hatton crashes down

Must read

Denmark’s Niklas Norgaard opened up a four-shot lead going into the final round of the British Masters as Tyrrell Hatton fell out of contention.

Englishman Hatton began the day leading by one shot but finished 10 off the top following a meagre 76 at the Belfry.

World number 205 Norgaard carded nine birdies in an impressive 64 to move to 16 under.

The Dane looked to have let an opportunity to have a bigger lead slip as he bogeyed the par-five 17th after a front nine of 33.

South African Thriston Lawrence came within three as he birdied the final four holes in a 67, but Norgaard responded by birdying the 18th.

Hatton, meanwhile, dropped shots on the sixth and ninth and tapped in for par on the 10th after pulling his drive into a bush.

The British Masters is 32-year-old Hatton’s first start at a regular DP World Tour event since January after appealing against the sanctions imposed for playing LIV Golf events without permission.
