Chelsea extend striker Nicolas Jackson’s contract by two years to 2033

Chelsea have extended the contract of striker Nicolas Jackson by two years until 2033.

The Blues now have the Senegal forward tied to the club for nine years to reflect their confidence in the £32m signing from Villarreal last summer.

Jackson scored 14 goals in the Premier League last season and has eight goals in his past eight matches, after scoring in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

When asked about Jackson’s deal, manager Enzo Maresca said after the match: “The only thing I know is he’s signing a new contract – I don’t know how many years.

“I’m very happy. Nicolas is doing a fantastic job with us, on and off the ball. He scored already two goals [this season]. He scored again today. He had another two chances but we are happy with him.”

On whether the extension shows faith in Jackson after the club’s summer pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, Maresca said: “I have faith, and the club also, even before. Not because we are looking for another striker; not that we don’t trust Nicolas. We trust Nicolas.

“I said last week when the transfer window was still open – he is doing fantastic with us. I am very happy with him.”

The renewal follows another two-year extension for Cole Palmer until 2033 before the season started.

Chelsea have won one, drawn one and lost the other of their first three league matches.
