Ryanair issues a travel warning as delays and disruptions hit holidaymakers across the UK

Must read

Ryanair has warned passengers leaving some UK airports today that flights could be delayed or disrupted.

This is due to weather conditions outside the control of the airline and ongoing ATC staff shortages.

Ryanair said there are “potential disruptions to and from South UK and London on Friday 6 September due to heavy fog and thunderstorms”.

Anyone set to travel should keep up-to-date on their flight by checking its status regularly.

The airline continued: “Affected passengers will be notified and any passengers travelling to/from South UK and London on Friday 6 September should check their Ryanair app for the latest updates on their flight.

“We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers by these weather conditions, which are outside of Ryanair’s control and affect all airlines operating to/from South UK and London on Friday 6 September.”

Those leaving London Stansted and London Luton are also affected by poor weather conditions.

The airline added they could also be disrupted in their travels due to “low visibility” and Britons should check the app for more updates.

This comes as Ryanair has an ongoing warning of delays which have occurred due to ATC staff shortages.

It continued: “Ryanair on Friday 6 September apologised to its passengers for the excessive flight delays caused by European ATC staff shortages today Friday 6 September which is affecting all European airlines.

“ATC services, which have had the benefit of no French ATC strike disruption this summer, continue to underperform (despite flight volumes being five per cent behind 2019 levels) with repeated ‘staff shortages’.

“On Friday 6 September, 28 per cent of Ryanair’s first wave departures (158 of 569 aircraft) were delayed due to ATC ‘staff shortages’. These repeated flight delays due to ATC mismanagement are unacceptable.

“We apologise to our passengers for these repeated ATC flight delays which are deeply regrettable but beyond Ryanair’s control.
