The Cott Inn in Dartington, Devon, has yet again pulled off an impressive win by being crowned ‘Pub of the Year’.

This historic watering hole is no stranger to applause, having amassed a treasure trove of accolades recently and firmly establishing itself as one of the UK’s finest taverns.

The award was handed over at the much-anticipated Great British Pub Awards held on Tuesday (September 17), where the Greene King Pub of the Year title was bestowed upon it.

Greene King’s managing director Dan Robinson hailed The Cott Inn for its outstanding “strong, customer-focused team” that ensures patrons have “a great experience all around”.

Mr Robinson, while announcing the winners, also shined a spotlight on the inn’s previous triumph as the Pub Garden of the Year during Greene King’s Night of Excellence Awards.

In a touching moment during the celebration, Dan Robinson enquired of the pub’s licensee Mark Annear about their recipe for such consistent success.

In response, Mr Annear lauded his “amazing” staff saying: “It’s just all about the community. The community in the pub is absolutely amazing.

“The team who run it – literally, that’s what makes it, it’s the relationships in that pub. And it just brings us so much success, it’s fantastic.”

The Great British Pub Awards were held at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on Tuesday, September 17, reported Devon Live. The ceremony was hosted by Death in Paradise actor Ralf Little and saw 17 top-notch pubs from across the country receive awards. The overall winner was The Tollemache Arms in Harrington.

The team behind the Cott Inn are no strangers to accolades – the pub has been nationally recognised by The Times, The Daily Telegraph and The Guardian.

It’s renowned for its Sunday roasts and a food menu featuring Devon-reared meats and local line-caught fish. The Cott Inn has also won awards for its accommodation, offering five boutique rooms.

After celebrating their win, the pub bosses posted a statement on Facebook: “Award-winning Cott Inn team do it again at the Pub Oscars! So honoured to win again at the Great British Pub Awards. Incredibly proud of our amazing team who work tirelessly every single day to make the pub what it is! Thank you everyone, very well deserved”.
