Magical route named UK’s most scenic walk to explore this autumn

Autumn feels like it is arriving early in the UK, with the temperatures dropping and the sun setting earlier. The good thing about the season is that it is the perfect time to go for a walk.

The crisp leaves and fresh air make it even better to go on one but there are some places better than others to go for a hike in the UK.

Thankfully research by the leading operator of holiday parks Parkdean Resorts has filtered the most liked videos on the social media platform TikTok for the search term ‘autumn walks uk’ to determine the results. The data is accurate as of September 17 2024.

Brits are still keen to get outdoors. In the last month alone there has been a significant increase in demand for walking trips with 744,000 Google searches for ‘walks’ in the last month.

With this in mind, Parkdean Resorts has revealed some of the most popular scenic walking locations across the UK for those who are keen to step outside into nature over the next few months.

The top 10 walking destinations across the UK:

1. Scottish Highlands, Scotland – 1.5 million likes

2. Castle Combe, Cotswolds – 830k likes

3. Regents Park, London – 525k likes

4. Dunkeld, Scotland – 258k likes

5. Winaats Pass, Peak District – 212k likes

6. Cragside, Northumberland – 220k likes

7. Mam Tor – Peak District – 212k likes

8. Hafren Forest, Powys, – 135k likes

9. Lud’s Church, Peak District – 131k likes

10. Wistman’s Wood, Dartmoor – 95k likes

The Scottish Highlands has taken the top spot as the best place for a scenic walk this autumn with more than eight million views on TikTok.

Covering nearly 10,000 square miles and being home to picturesque scenery and the famous Loch Ness, it comes as no surprise that it’s such a magical spot for walks.

Over on TikTok, users have shared their astonishment at how scenic walking in Scotland looks, with users commenting on @niamhmackinnon’s post, “How does it feel to live my dream” and “This looks therapeutic wow”.

The second most-liked video ranking on TikTok is Castle Combe in the Cotswolds, with 830,000 likes on TikTok.

In the comments of @kellyprincewright’s video, users have been obsessing over the location with one user commenting, “I wish I lived here” and another sharing their admiration by commenting “The most beautiful video I’ve seen today”.

Located just outside of Bath, this small village is extremely popular with tourists and especially walkers due to its nature and scenery.

The Castle Combe Circular Trail is specifically a favourite. The circular trail walk is approximately five km long and walkers can find streams and local pubs along the way.

The Peak District is also a favourite with walkers this autumn. It has appeared three times in the top 10 in the 2024 list.

Located in central northern England, The Peak District is loved for its scenic hills and countryside paths. A popular location in the Peak District is Mam Tor, which is a 500m hill in Derbyshire. It’s a famous walk and popular amongst those looking to make the most of what the UK has to offer this autumn.
