St Clare Hospice will officially open its 10th charity shop in Priors Green, Takeley, next Friday (Oct 4).

To celebrate, customers will receive 10% off purchases of pre-loved goods on the day.

There will be cake and a selection of beverages on offer after Shaun Weston cuts the ribbon. He is managing director of British Offsite, part of Takeley’s Weston Group. The developer is a long-time backer of the charity.

At the start of this year, chairman Bob Weston was named Business Personality at the 2023 Indies Community Awards for raising £1.7 million for the hospice which cared for his mum and dad.

Louise Poulton, manager of the Takeley shop, said: ‘With limited NHS funding, we rely on raising over £14,250 every day to keep the hospice running.

“This new shop not only provides an opportunity for people to purchase quality goods at low prices, but also plays a crucial role in helping us provide outstanding hospice care to those who need it. The support from the local community will be vital in making a difference.’’
