Siemens Mobility has opened its new 200 million GBP Goole Train Manufacturing Facility in the North of England.
The event was attended by Transport Secretary Louise Haigh and Mayor of London Sadiq Khan. It celebrated Siemens’ ongoing investment in the region, including an additional 40 million GBP pledged towards a Bogie Assembly and Service Centre.

“After more than a decade of tremendous dedication and hard work, we have officially opened our state-of-the-art Rail Village in Goole which is testament to our commitment to the North of England. None of this would have been possible without the brilliance, perseverance, and passion of our people and I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved together. ”
The Goole Rail Village, located in the East Riding of Yorkshire, will now provide up to 1,000 direct jobs, along with an estimated 1,700 jobs within the supply chain.

The facility will be home to a range of operations, from assembling and commissioning trains to maintaining key components such as gearboxes and traction motors. It also houses a logistics centre and a business hub aimed at fostering innovation in the rail industry.
The facility will assemble 80% of the new Piccadilly Line trains for London and is expected to build all future Siemens Mobility train orders for the UK, including battery-powered trains.
By 2030, Goole will also serve global markets, enhancing its significance in the rail industry.

In addition, the new Bogie Assembly and Service Centre will further expand Siemens Mobility’s capabilities in the UK, including the assembly and overhaul of bogies for a range of trains. The facility secures 100 existing jobs and creates up to 200 new ones.
The new site is set to be operational by late 2026 and will further cement Goole as a key site for train manufacturing in the UK.
