British co-operative group Co-op has re-opened its Tilehurst store in Reading, Berkshire, following a comprehensive two-month renovation programme.

Re-opened on 4 October 2024, the outlet supports 20 jobs.

Situated on School Road, Tilehurst, the location now offers an in-store bakery and Costa Coffee Express, and emphasises its offer of fresh, healthy produce.

The makeover also includes a range of meal ideas, everyday essentials, food-to-go, Fairtrade products, flowers and chilled beers.

Additional new services include parcel collection through Amazon Locker and DPD, a new photo booth and cash machine.

The store has partnered with Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats to provide online grocery delivery.

Back-of-shop improvements have also been made to enhance customer service.

Co-op store manager Jay Lloyd said: “We have had a great response. The whole team is delighted to have had the opportunity to invest in Tilehurst – the store has been transformed with a fresh new look and layout, and we are really enjoying welcoming our members and customers back into their Co-op now that the works have concluded.

“It is always our aim to operate at the heart of local life and we have worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve and support our community, conveniently.

“Co-op also has a focus on delivering value, with member price savings across a wide range of everyday essentials so that the people who own our business, our member-owners, benefit every time they shop.”

In September 2024, Co-op opened its latest store in Bailiff Bridge, West Yorkshire, UK.
