Eco Fashion Show and other news from Ysgol Llys Hywel, Whitland

Must read

In order to raise awareness for recycling week, the whole school took part in an Eco fashion show where pupils made their own outfits and showcased these in their very own fashion show!

Pupils also went around the local community to collect rubbish.

The Eco committee was fortunate enough also to welcome Dan Thomas from Waste Baling Machines, who spoke about his work in baling materials and the importance of recycling correctly. He kindly donated £350 from the aluminium cans the school has been collecting over the last year as part of a community effort.

All pupils across the school enjoyed taking part in various activities to celebrate Roald Dahl Day. Pupils from year 3-6 enjoyed visiting the local library, redesigning a front cover and creating a data base on Roald Dahl books.

Years 5 and 6 had a lovely warm welcome from the Whitland committee at the end of September, who arranged a fun day for us at the Whitland Abbey. The pupils took part in a range of activities where they learned about the history and the lifestyle of the Abbey and were thankful for the invitation.

European Day of Languages

Each class took part in a range of activities to celebrate European Day of Languages based on the country that they chose. It was lovely to see the pupils take part in a range of activities, such as cooking pizzas, singing songs and Spanish dancing.

Year 3-6 pupils were spoilt with musical entertainment by the county’s peripatetic music team who put on great show at Ysgol Dyffryn Taf. Pupils enjoyed taking part singing and enjoying the range of instruments.

A successful afternoon was had at Ysgol Llys Hywel, raising money for Macmillan Cancer research. Many parents and people from the local community enjoyed a chat, coffee and a range of cakes, helping to raise £300 for a good cause. Thanks to all the pupils, staff and community for their support.
