Must read

From established British names such as Sunspel and Paul Smith to smaller labels such as Slowear and Community Clothing, the options for older men are diverse – focusing less on trend and more on the finer details. “Building a wardrobe as an older man is a nuanced process,” says stylist Gareth Scourfield, whose clients include the actor Colin Firth, 64. “It’s not about chasing trends, but about the little things – like the height of a crew neckline or the depth of ribbing on a T-shirt – that matter.”

To help men over the age of 60 navigate the world of style, we sought advice from some of Britain’s most fashionable older men, including 65-year-old model and designer Herbie Mensah. “Men like myself look for clothing that’s comfortable, confidence-boosting, and age appropriate,” says Mensah. “We want fabrics that feel good, garments made from natural fibres, and classic tailoring. Above all, the clothes need to be comfortable.”
