The UK’s world famous city and incredible seaside town just 26 miles apart

The magic of Scotland is down to a host of reasons including its mysterious landscapes, rich folklore and stunning natural beauty.

Roughly three to four million international visitors embark on Scotland each year and it’s easy to see why.

Enchanting lochs, mountains, history, culture all add to the country’s charm.

There are also a number of outdoor activities to be enjoyed including global events such as the Scottish Open Golf Championship. 

If visiting this country, two cities come highly recommended and best of all, they’re only 24.6 miles apart. 

When one thinks of Scotland, Edinburgh often springs to mind first.

Edinburgh is Scotland’s capital city with its very own Edinburgh Castle – one of the city’s most iconic landmarks that’s perched atop Castle Rock providing panoramic views of the city as far as the eye can see.

“The Royal Mile, a historic street that runs from the castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, is another famous feature of Edinburgh,” noted Experience Scotland’s Wild.

“The city’s festivals, including the world-famous Edinburgh Festival Fringe, attract artists and performers from every corner of the globe.”

Edinburgh is also home to a number of fantastic restaurants including impressive stays, such as 100 Princes Street Edinburgh or Rígh Residences.

And there’s plenty to do in the hilly city including a visit to the National Museum of Scotland, Arthur’s Seat or Edinburgh Zoo.

After a hedonistic trip around Edinburgh why not make your next port of call at North Berwick.

This welcoming seaside town is found in East Lothian and boasts fantastic beaches, a lush coastal scenery and even the Scottish Seabird Centre.

The region has been described as a vibrant harbour town and is home to an array of quaint cafes, shops and bars and also its very own world-renowned golf course. 

Historically, North Berwick had one of the first witchcraft trials in Scotland which took place back in 1590.

In modern times, this holiday resort provides stunning views out to the Firth of Forth including the Bass Rock – the world’s largest Northern gannet colony.

There’s also plenty to do in North Berwick including boat trips, a stroll in The Lodge Gardens, or a visit to Berwick Law – an ancient volcanic plug that erupted over 300 million years ago.

After a long trip of sightseeing, North Berwick offers a number of great places to rest your weary head including Marine North Berwick and Nether Abbey Hotel.
