WICKET! England 40-1 (Jacks 18, Cox 1) Overs: 9

Phil Salt, caught Joseph bowled Seales, 18 (29)

Salt goes for the big hit over the top and doesn’t quite catch it, looping a drive into the Antigua sky. It’s a tricky chance, but superbly held over his shoulder by Joseph.

Jordan Cox is the new batter, and he gets off the mark with a single.

England 39-0 (Salt 18, Jacks 18) Overs: 8

Alzarri Joseph comes into the attack, but his over starts in disappointing fashion, through no fault of his own. Lewis attempts to run out Salt, who I think would have been safe anyway, but the backing up leaves a lot to be desired and the ball runs away for overthrows.

The second delivery of the over is a no-ball, meaning a free hit, which is fired in as a yorker to limit the damage, and he finishes the over well.

England 30-0 (Salt 17, Jacks 11) Overs: 7

Salt bookends a Forde over with boundaries, both hit through the ring on the off side where there’s no cover back on the rope. This is a reasonable start from England, solid.

England 22-0 (Salt 9, Jacks 11) Overs: 6

The cameras pick up West Indies coach Darren Sammy calling for his bowlers to utilise the cross-seam deliveries to try and stick the ball in this sluggish pitch. Sales does just that, and is tricky to get away during another decent over. Remember that you can watch this game right now on TNT Sports 1.

England 20-0 (Salt 8, Jacks 10) Overs: 5

Jacks miscues a drive off Forde and is relieved to see it drop short of the fielders in the ring. Just one single comes off another tidy over.

England 19-0 (Salt 8, Jacks 9) Overs: 4

Nice again from Seales, who concedes just the two runs from a very tidy second over.

England 17-0 (Salt 6, Jacks 9) Overs: 3

Jacks tucks a wayward Forde delivery off his legs for four and he finishes the over with a glorious cover drive, continuing a solid start from this opening pair.

It could well be that only one of these two make the XI for the Champions Trophy, with Duckett, Root, Brook, Smith and Buttler all in contention to come back into the team, not to mention the possibility of Stokes returning to the ODI set-up.

England 8-0 (Salt 6, Jacks 1) Overs: 2

It’s a really tidy opening over from Seales, who makes up part of a very strong West Indian bowling attack here. Three runs come from it.

England 5-0 (Salt 4, Jacks 0) Overs: 1

England start in style as Phil Salt scythes his third ball off Forde to the rope. The ball doesn’t run away all that well, so we could see plenty of hard-run twos and threes. A no ball extends the over.

It’s not often you have four debutants in the same XI, but that’s the case with England, who hand ODI caps to Jordan Cox, Dan Mousley, Jamie Overton and John Turner.

There are nine bowling options in all in the side, while Phil Salt will keep wicket rather than Cox, who is set to be behind the stumps for the Test team in New Zealand later in the winter.

West Indies: 1 Brandon King, 2 Evin Lewis, 3 Keacy Carty, 4 Shai Hope (capt and wk), 5 Sherfane Rutherford, 6 Shimron Hetmyer, 7 Alzarri Joseph, 8 Roston Chase, 9 Gudakesh Motie, 10 Matthew Forde, 11 Jayden Seales

England: 1 Phil Salt (wk), 2 Will Jacks, 3 Jordan Cox, 4 Jacob Bethell, 5 Liam Livingstone (capt), 6 Sam Curran, 7 Dan Mousley, 8 Jamie Overton, 9 Adil Rashid, 10 Jofra Archer, 11 John Turner

WEST INDIES WIN THE TOSS AND BOWL

So it will be the hosts who bowl first in the picturesque North Sound, giving England’s new-look batting lineup an early test.
