A busy portion of the Northern line on the London Underground has come to a standstill due to a fire alert at Elephant & Castle.
There are currently severe delays northbound between Kennington in south London and Camden Town station in the north, via Bank.
To make matters worse there is no service between Moor Park and Amersham/ Chesham due to a signal failure at Moor Park and there are also minor delays on the Bakerloo and Waterloo & City line.
A reduced service is also operating across the DLR network until Sunday and there is a part closure of the London Overground between Clapham Junction and Surrey Quays until later today.
Meanwhile, a section of the A46 in Warwickshire has been closed while emergency services investigate a serious crash.
All lanes in both directions between the A439 (Marraway Roundabout) and the A3400 (Stratford-upon-Avon) are expected to remain shut for the rest of the morning.
Severe train disruption in the north of England
A broken down freight train at Burnley Manchester Road is causing disruption to journeys running between Hebden Bridge/Todmorden and Accrington.
As all lines are currently blocked, trains may be cancelled or revised.
Routes impacted include between York and Blackpool North, and also Blackburn and Headbolt Lane.
Disruption is expected until 1pm.
Replacement road transport is in operation between Hebden Bridge/ Rochdale and Blackburn in both directions.
Journey times will be extended by 60 minutes while travelling by this service.
Additionally, people may use their ticket on TransPennine Express services between York/Leeds and Manchester at no extra cost.
Minor delays on the Bakerloo line
It really is not a good day for people in London wanting to get into work this morning.
There are now minor delays on the Bakerloo line between Queen’s Park and Elephant & Castle due to an earlier faulty train.
There is a good service on the rest of the line.
Other issues across the tube network this morning
It is not good news for commuters this morning using the London Underground network.
There are also minor delays on the Waterloo & City line because of a faulty train.
There is a reduced service across the entire DLR network until Sunday while work is done to expand a depot in preparation for new trains.
There is also no service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction on the London Overground until later today for works to be carried out.
Metropolitan line part suspended
There is currently no service on the Metropolitan line between Moor Park and Amersham/Chesham while a signal failure is fixed at Moor Park.
There is a good service on the rest of the line.
Nothern line part suspended following fire alert
There is currently no service between Kennington and Camden Town via Bank, northbound only because of a fire alert at Elephant & Castle.
There is a good service on the rest of the line.
Busy section of Northern line suspended after fire alert
A busy portion of the Northern line on the London Underground has been suspended due to a fire alert at Elephant & Castle.
There is currently no service northbound between Kennington in south London and Camden Town station in the north, via Bank.
That includes major stations such as London Bridge, Angel and King’s Cross St Pancras.
It is unclear whether the fire alert was triggered deliberately due to a fire and how long it may take to resolve the situation.
Emergency services on scene at A63
Some more road disruption to report now – police are attending another incident, this time on the A63 in Yorkshire.
The road is closed westbound near Hessle, in Hull, while Humberside Police investigate.
National Highways said an ambulance is also on the scene.
In a tweet, the organisation suggested drivers leave at Mount Pleasant and head west on the A165, then Spring Bank A1105 to re-join the A63 at Western Interchange.
More about the A46 crash
The crash on the A46 this morning was first reported at around 12.45am.
Around seven hours later, all lanes of the road remain closed between the Marraway Roundabout and Stratford-Upon-Avon.
There has been no update from Warwickshire Police on the nature of the incident, but we know the road is likely to stay closed for the rest of the morning.
National Highways has said Warwickshire emergency services remain in attendance.
