Inside the private island only cruise ship passengers can step foot on

A £192 million private island in the middle of the Bahamas is so exclusive that only cruise ship passengers can visit.

Royal Caribbean‘s colossal  ‘Icon of the Seas’ is a floating paradise featuring seven swimming pools, an ice rink, a theatre, and a plethora of over 40 dining and entertainment venues.

Launched earlier this year, the ship measures an impressive 1,200 feet (365 metres) from bow to stern and has the capacity to host up to 7,600 guests along with 2,350 crew members.

In terms of size, the Icon of the Seas is five times larger than the most famous cruise liner in the world, the Titanic.

And one of the ships swanky stops is its own private island.

CocoCay island, also known as Little Stirrup Cay, is one of the Berry Islands in the Bahamas, around 55 miles north of Nassau.

Royal Caribbean took over the island back in 1988 with a 100-year lease and completely overhauled it in 2019, officially renaming it Perfect Day at CocoCay.

The island has a two-ship-capacity pier so guests can walk directly onto the island from their ship.

It boasts seven beaches, a 1,600-foot zip line and the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean, with a swim-up bar and in-water loungers.

However, the most eye-catching attraction is the 120-foot water slide called Daredevil’s Peak – the tallest water slide in North America.

Promising to leave you breathless the single-rider waterslide is almost certain to give thrill seekers a rush of adrenaline and ends in a water-drenched finish.

As the island is completely uninhabited, staff from the cruise ship must disembark and fully equip the five dining areas alongside the other amenities.

A total of 60 tonnes of food and drinks is brought onto the island and only after this can people go and explore the 125-acre island.

Royal Caribbean has three more private destinations set to open in the next three years, spending over £630 million in Mahahual in Mexico, the Bahamas, and Cozumel in Mexico.
