Mohamed Salah has attributed his impressive physique more to his diet than to gym work. The Liverpool star, known for his goal celebrations that often involve him showing off his well-defined abs, has shared his fitness secrets.

The Egyptian forward said his abs are down to what happens “in the kitchen” and not in the gym. The 32-year-old also offered some advice on what food you should be cutting out of your diet to turn your “three-pack into a six-pack.”


Speaking to Men in Blazers, he said: “You have to eat well. When you eat well, you burn fat. That’s where you start to see the shredding in your body, and from what I read a lot about, it’s just more food than gym.”

“I can tell you foods that you need to cut out from your food. You need to cut bread, at least have gluten-free bread, less dairy, don’t eat cheese that much, and stay in the green stuff. And the sugar, and cut out the sugar as well.”


The interview came after Salah celebrated his birthday – pictured with a bowl of fruit. Some football fans and gym fanatics were happier than others. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, they shared their thoughts on Salah’s fitness regime.

One user said: “No bread? No cheese? The only way you could get me to eat like Mo Salah is if you also paid me $18M per year.” Another wrote: “Just what I needed to hear. No more abs exercises in the gym again cause the abs aren’t made in the gym.”


A third added: “I keep telling people. Bread will ruin you.” A separate user, named Jake, said: “Facts. Tough but cutting bread/ sugar and eating more greens is the truth.”
