Must read

The UK is home to a number of true gems found throughout but when thinking of pristine beaches and glimmering turquoise waters, an image of a tropical destination such as Thailand is more likely to spring to mind.

The best-kept secret however offers all that encased among a dramatic landscape that’s been officially crowned as having one of the best beaches on the planet in the latest edition of The World’s 50 Best Beaches.

A visit here provides not only the best beach but is also home to an incredible walk featuring a cosy pub as a reward for your efforts.

Located on Lizard peninsula, the surrounding area features a tidal beach and rock stacks with dark green and red Serpentinite cliffs.

The walk has been described as moderately challenging and takes around 2.5 hours to complete.

For those seeking an adventure the Lizard, Kynance Cove and Church Cove Circular trail promises for a challenge that’ll be well worth it.

The stunning Cornwall region offers dramatic landscapes, an array of unique wildlife and of course, one of the best beaches in the world.

The circular walk takes you on a journey via the Victorian Excursion route which starts from Lizard Point – the most southerly section and then takes you along the coast path to famous Kynance Cove.

The 6.08 miles (9.8-km) circular trail takes an average of 2 h 35 min with unforgettable highlights along the way including the Lizard Lighthouse and one of the largest nature reserves in the South West of England.

Rare plants to spot along the route include Erica vagans or Cornish heath, dwarf rush and wild asparagus with peregrine, ravens and chough’s circling above.

Amongst all the wonder and beauty, Kynance Cove is the true star among this trail, voted in the top 50 Best Beaches which was picked by over 1,000 travel influencers, journalists and travel experts

World’s Best Beaches wrote of this spectacular UK gem saying: “The combination of turquoise waters and white sand makes it a remarkable standout, especially given its more northern location.

“At low tide, hidden caves and islands become accessible for exploration, adding to the allure of the area.”

According to iwalk Cornwall, some of the route at the top of Kynance Cove has some wobbly boulders with large pebbles too and suggest a walking pole for some to help with balance.

Once officially blown away by the dramatic beauty and lush wildlife, a stop at the Farmer’s Arms is an absolute must.

Found in the pretty village of Porthleven on the Lizard Peninsula, this award-winning bed and breakfast offers it all including dishes that’ll have you raving about for years.
