This city is one of Europe’s most popular and it has also been named as the safest city for tourists to travel to in 2025.
Reykjavik in Iceland takes the top spot for being best for tourists in terms of safety and it has consistently ranked as one of the least dangerous cities, according to World of Statistics.
Known for its incredible natural landscapes, impressive architecture and thermal pools, Iceland is a country many are keen to visit.
Reykjavik has a low crime rate and is also a very walkable city which makes it appealing to travellers. According to World Population Review, Iceland has a Global Peace Index (GPI) score of 1.124, which is the lowest in the world.
The GPI report ranks each country’s level of safety or danger based upon 23 indicators including level of distrust, political instability, potential for terrorist acts and number of homicides.
The top things to do are to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights, visit the Blue Lagoon, and to go whale watching.
In second place is Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. Copenhagen is known for being a great winter destination with many festive places to visit such as Tivoli Gardens. Denmark has a GPI score of 1.310, meaning it is also scores low for crime.
One of the reasons why Copenhagen feels so safe is due to the high level of trust among people, which is part of Danish culture, reports Lonely Planet.
In third place is Amsterdam, which is just a couple of hours away from the UK. It has consistently ranked as one of the world’s safest cities for tourists.
Also in the top five are Tokyo and Sydney. Tokyo has low crime rates and is known for being one of the safest metropolitan cities, Japan has a GPI score of 1.336.
Sydney has not only ranked as one of the safest cities in the world but has also ranked as one of the overall best cities in the world, reports Time Out.
