Five word Kris Boyd Rangers quip has Neil Lennon in stitches live on Sky Sports

Must read

Kris Boyd is one of Scottish football’s most colourful characters and naturally the ex-Rangers striker had something to say about the 6-0 win over Kilmarnock.

The ex-Gers hitman was actually on Sky Sports duties alongside ex-Celtic pair Neil Lennon and Johnny Hayes at Pittodrie.

As Rangers ran out comprehensive 6-0 winners over Kilmarnock, Celtic were recorded a 1-0 win over Aberdeen.

The result maintains the Parkhead side’s substantial 11 point lead over Rangers and Kris Boyd had the Sky Sports panel in stitches come full time.

Kris Boyd has Neil Lennon in stitches

Kris Boyd has been one of the most vocal critics of Rangers’ disastrous domestic form this season.

Whether it’s been lamenting new technical director Nils Koppen or Rangers’ misfiring frontline, Boyd has been a regular slaughtering the Gers’ shortcomings.

But on a rain-soaked night in Aberdeen, Boydie had a different message after watching Rangers decimate Kilmarnock a few hours early.

It was a simply five word line but it had Neil Lennon in stitches and fired out a warning across Scottish football

“Be afraid,” Kris Boyd told Sky Sports. “Rangers are back.”

Philippe Clement keeping feet on ground

Whilst there was more than hint of the tongue in cheek in Kris Boyd’s comments, the resounding win over Kilmarnock has given Rangers fans plenty to sing about.

The Ibrox support want to see their team score goals and entertain them and the thumping victory over Kilmarnock was undoubtedly the club’s best Scottish Premiership showing of the season.

But it has to just be the beginning for a talented young Rangers squad still finding their feet in Glasgow.

Philippe Clement was in no mood to make statements quite as bold as Kris Boyd’s come full-time but the Rangers manager was delighted his team showed their potential at Ibrox.

“(This is) the football that I want to see and what we spoke about the last weeks and the last months,” said Clement come full-time.

”It’s about timing the right runs, the right passes, to get these connections on the pitch.

“To gel together with a lot of new players, if you see how many new players were on the pitch also. That the players get the reward also what they’ve been doing in the trainings and in the games.

”I don’t think the last two league games they were rewarded in that way because we had also good chances but today you finish it off. Not all the time, because it could’ve been more.“
