If you missed out on seeing the Lidl Freeway cola truck during it’s November tour, then we’ve got good news.

The giant 15 tonne, 20-metre-long vehicle is going to be driving home for Christmas, as additional dates have been added to the tour – and along the way people will have the chance to score some fun freebies from the budget supermarket.

The bright red truck, which rivals the iconic Coca-Cola one, will be heading back out on the road in December, parking up outside various Lidl stores around Great Britain.

Locations will include Dundee, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

Lidl's Christmas present boxes will contain mystery items and some will have a golden ticket worth £100.

During the first leg of the tour, the truck ‘granted wishes’ and more than 2,000 Middle Aisle present boxes were handed out. These were similar to the mystery boxes the supermarket sold in August for £20 each.

The contents inside each of the boxes varied, but some were worth up to £100. What’s more, one in 10 of the boxes contained a golden ticket – a coupon worth £100, that could be used for Christmas shopping at Lidl.

A number of present boxes will be given out at each stop to visitors on a first come, first served basis.

And each stop on the tour will also feature a pop-up wonderland, and while there visitors will also to sample festive food from the supermarket.

Where will Lidl’s Freeway Cola Christmas truck be going on tour:

  • Newton Abbot (Marriott Way store), December 5
  • Cardiff (Llanishen store) , December 7
  • Bristol (Berwick Green store), December 8
  • Liverpool (Jennifer Ave store), December 12
  • Manchester (Chester Rd store), December 14
  • Castleford (Pard Rd store), December 15
  • Newcastle (Sands Rd store), December 19
  • Glasgow (Richmond Pl store), December 21
  • Aberdeen (Greenwell Rd store), December 22

To celebrate the tour Lidl’s Christmas ad this year features the Freeway truck, which is driven by a character known as ‘Nick’.

Joanna Gomer, Marketing Director at Lidl GB, said: ‘We have been blown away by the response to our Lidl Freeway Christmas tour. We love nothing more than spreading Christmas cheer to the communities we serve, and to see over 10,000 people visit and enjoy the experience made extending the tour an absolute must.

‘We are excited to now take the Freeway fun directly to our customers in stores across the country.’

Lidl’s Freeway truck will tour Great Britain from December 5 to 23, visiting nine locations along the way from 10AM to 6PM.

This comes after Lidl revealed they’d be opening 10 news stores across the UK before the end of 2024. As part of a major expansion, new supermarkets will open in areas such as Berwick Green in Bristol, Bovey Tracey in Devon and Stirchley in Birmingham.

There will also be three more in London, with stores set to open in Hoxton, Forest Gate and Caterham. Lidl says they plan to solidify a ‘strong foothold’ in the capital.

And three already existing stores, in Chessington, Connah’s Quay and Dagenham Heathway, are to be refurbished and extended.

Bosses say that the new openings will create up to 400 job opportunities.
