The Giving Tree campaign, run by the Romford shopping centre this year in partnership with the Recorder, has supported those in need in Havering over Christmas for more than 20 years.
In recent years, the campaign has focused on supporting Havering Women’s Aid.
The charity manages two large women’s refuges and more thanĀ 30 apartments for women and children escaping domestic violence.
These families often arrive with few possessions, making the aid of organisations like Havering Women’s Aid crucial in helping them transition to new homes.
The Mercury said it has been receiving donations for the campaign but it is looking for gifts specifically on the “dream list”.
ThisĀ can be found by searching ‘The Giving Tree For Womenās Aid Havering’ on dreamlist.com.
The list includes a variety of items, from household goods to clothing and toys, all of which will help bring a sense of normality to the lives of those temporarily displaced.
This year, the aim is to provide personalised gift boxes for every family and single individual in the Havering refuge centres.
These gift boxes will offer a small measure of comfort and normality to those spending Christmas away from home.
The refuge centres house a mix of independent women escaping violence and single families.
Each gift, whether big or small, can make a significant difference to the recipient.
The Mercury is accepting gifts until December 20.
All gifts must be new and unopened, ensuring they are safe and provide a sense of care on Christmas Day.
Gifts can be sent to The Mercury Management Suite, ordered for collection from Asda or The Entertainer, or handed in directly to The Mercury helpdesk, security team, or management office.
E-vouchers can also be donated via email to info@themercurymall.co.uk.
Shopping centre managerĀ Spencer Hawken said: āWeāre so grateful to our shoppers for their generosity and support during the busy Christmas period, proving, once again, just how generous our shoppers can be.ā
