UK’s most entertaining destinations: Guess what position Tenby holds!

As many will be looking for a festive getaway, the most and least entertaining holiday destinations in the UK have been revealed. But where does Tenby rank?

The team at OLBG have researched the best and worst holiday destinations in the UK for those looking for an entertaining break. The research has considered points such as the number of pubs with live music, the number of zoos, aquariums and arcades on offer, the average cost of accommodation and more.

Tenby is the best seaside town with an entertainment score of 7.71/10 (OLBG)

Tenby in Pembrokeshire has been crowned the UK’s most entertaining holiday destination, with an entertainment score of 7.71 out of 10. The harbour town scoring 7.71/10. Tenby has 6.4 pubs per 1,000 people and 2.4 featuring live music, which shows that the small town has a bustling nightlife. The town is also renowned for its pristine beaches, with Castle Beach being named the UK’s best in 2019.

Second is St Ives in Cornwall (7.29); in third place is Lyme Regis, Dorset (7.24); fourth ranked is New Brighton, Wirral (6.56), while in joint fifth position are Swanage in Dorset and Southwold in East Suffolk.

Amusement arcades and slots are a quintessential feature of British seaside towns. Hunstanton Pier in West Norfolk is famous for its amusements, with traditional coin push, toy grabber and fruit machines. Great Yarmouth tops the list as the seaside town with the most arcades with 16, while Southwold has the highest ratio of pubs, with 11.6 per 1,000 people.

On the other end of the scale, Troon, South Ayrshire takes the prize for the UK’s least entertaining holiday destination, with a score of 1.38, alongside Plymouth (1.76), Bognor Regis (1.81), Worthing (2.51), Morecambe (2.56) and Brighton (2.78).

When looking at the factors listed within the research, Troon has next-to-no amusements for families to enjoy and only has 1.3 pubs per 1,000 people, considerably less than Tenby.
