Wales women to tour Australia in summer 2025 while the British and Irish Lions are on tour there

Wales women will play two Tests against their Australian counterparts during next year’s British and Irish Lions men’s tour.

The Wallaroos will host Wales on Friday, 26 July in Brisbane. A week later, on the eve of the second Wallabies v Lions Test in Sydney, the women’s teams will face each other again in the same city.

Wales are currently ranked 10th in the world, five places below Australia and will use the tour as part of their 2025 England World Cup build-up. Venues and times for the tour games are scheduled to be confirmed early next year.

Wales captain Hannah Jones said: “Playing Australia in their own backyard would be a challenge for any side, but it is a challenge we are looking forward to ahead of the 2025 World Cup in England in August and September.

“Knowing what a sports-mad nation Australia is, having lived and played rugby there, to play the Wallaroos when rugby union will be very much at the front of everyone’s mind with the Lions Test series being played is an exciting prospect.”

Wales beat Australia for the first time in September, 2024, but the Wallarroos turned the tables within the month at WXV2 in South Africa.

Before the tour, Wales host 2025 Six Nations games, against England at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Saturday, 29 March, followed by a meeting with Ireland at Rodney Parade in Newport on Sunday, 20 April.
