Princess Kate is one of the biggest trendsetters and is renowned for her iconic style after becoming a member of the Royal Family. The 42-year-old decided to up-cycle her bold red coat by adding a bow to it when she attended her Together at Christmas Carol Concert.
Following her show-stopping festive evening held at Westminster Abbey, Express.co.uk caught up with fashion stylist Ciara Russell. She has worked with some of the UK’s leading brands and celebrities.
She exclusively told us that at heart, Kate is a fashionista and will “incorporate current trends into her wardrobe.” Meanwhile, the Princess conveyed the message of hope following her recent cancer diagnosis.
Earlier this year, Princess Kate was diagnosed with an unspecified cancer and is currently making a gradual return to public life. Bows can symbolise a variety of things, but many say they represent a beacon of hope and vitality.
Speaking of Kate’s stunning ensemble, Ciara said: “Bows are incredibly popular this year, and as a fashion icon, Princess Kate often incorporates current trends into her wardrobe when they align with her elegant style.”
“She has a talent for choosing pieces that are both trendy and timeless and the addition of bows adds a feminine and polished touch that suits her perfectly.”
The Princess stepped out in a vibrant coat designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.
Although it has been reported that she has owned the garment since 2019 after stepping out in it multiple times over the years at events.
The Princess, who is very conscious of sustainable fashion, decided to give it a subtle upgrade by adding a large black bow around the collar.
Ciara continued to say that she believes Princess Kate will continue with the trend over the winter season. She said: “They strike the perfect balance between being feminine and elegant, especially when styled thoughtfully.
“We’ve already seen how Kate incorporates them beautifully, such as her red coat with a velvet bow, which exudes sophistication with a festive touch.”
“It’s also lovely to see her daughter, Princess Charlotte, mirroring this style with her half-up, half-down hairstyle with a matching bow, creating a charming and coordinated mother-daughter look.”
Speaking of the surge in popularitym, Ciara shared they were “popular this year as women embrace their feminine side and give it almost a girlie touch.”
Bows are for all ages and there are no restrictions on the size or colour – you could add them to your festive fits this winter.
If you would like to try out Kate’s look, then Ciara suggested: “By adding a ribbon to create a bow in your hair or slipping on a pair of bowed ballet pumps, you can effortlessly embrace this trend.
“Both are not only stylish and on-trend but also add a feminine touch that perfectly aligns with the overall bow aesthetic, making it easy to incorporate this playful, timeless detail into your look.”
