There’s a shortage of trains running from the south west of England into London today in the aftermath of Storm Darragh.
The poor weather conditions, including heavy rain and strong winds, has led to a shortage of South Western Railway trains able to run between Salisbury and Yeovil Pen Mill / Exeter St Davids.
This is impacting trains between London Waterloo and the south west.
National Rail said: ‘This means that fewer trains will run, and some services may have reduced carriages as a result.’
Trains could be delayed by half an hour or cancelled, and the disruption is expected to last until the end of the day on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, on the Underground, there’s a shortage of trains on the Piccadilly line which is causing severe delays.

Lane closed on M62 after crash
Five miles of queueing traffic has built up after a crash on the M62.
There’s one lane closed westbound between junction 21 for Milnrow and 20 for Rochdale.
Drivers in the area are facing 35-minute delays on top of usual journey times.
Disruption between Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street throughout rush hour
There’s a shortage of train crew on the West Midlands Railway network this morning, meaning some trains between Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street could be cancelled.
This disruption is expected to last until 9.30am.
Transport for Wales services still suspended after Storm Darragh
Whilst the Met Office weather warnings have now ended, disruption is still expected to continue across various Transport for Wales routes following Storm Darragh.
These are the routes impacted:
- Buses replace trains between Llandudno / Llandudno Junction and Blaenau Ffestiniog until the end of the day
- No Transport for Wales services will run between these stations. Replacement road transport is running between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog, provided by Llew Jones
- Buses replace trains between Shrewsbury and Swansea (via the Heart of Wales line) until the end of the day
- No Transport for Wales services will run between Shrewsbury and Swansea via the Heart of Wales line. Replacement buses will run on the whole route, but to ensure they meet the timetabled arrival time they may leave up to an hour before the train would have departed
- Buses replace trains between Carmarthen and Pembroke Dock until approximately 12pm
- No Transport for Wales services will run on the line to / from Pembroke Dock. Replacement road transport is operating this morning. Network Rail staff are inspecting the line regularly and once they are satisfied it is safe for trains to resume, the line will reopen.

- Piccadilly line: No service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge due to difficult track conditions, please use the Metropolitan line to complete your journey. Severe delays on the rest of the line due to a shortage of trains
- Northern line: Minor delays between Camden Town and High Barnet / Mill Hill East due to emergency engineering work at Highgate Depot
- Suffragette (London Overground): Reduced service – the 6.48am train from Barking Riverside will start from Barking at 6.54am
