Up and down the country, breathtaking parks, valleys and villages come alive in the autumn, with fabulous displays of colours setting golden hues against crisp blue skies.
Photography experts at ParrotPrint.com have revealed some of the most breathtaking parts of the UK from which to admire the tapestry of the changing seasons.
With summer officially having come to an end on Sunday, September 22, they also suggest that the best time for guaranteed colours and fantastic photos is between mid-October and mid-November.
A spokesperson for the company said: “Depending on how long the summer sunshine stays around, the colours begin to change and leaves start falling from the end of September.”
While all corners of this little island offer plenty of opportunities to watch the leaves change colour, one area in particular has an almost magical quality at this time of year.Â
The Peak District and Derbyshire offer hundreds of stunning locations that showcase nature’s vibrant colour palette.
According to the experts, “In Curbar Edge, the landscape of the Peak District takes on a wonderful glow of gold, copper, russet and orange. The ‘Three Edges Walk’ takes in Curbar Edge for spectacular views and you may also come across some shaggy highland cattle and red deer”.
In the Derwent Valley, lovers of the season can capture some of the most iconic panoramic views in Derbyshire, including the historic Derwent Reservoir.Â
Providing an incredible backdrop for autumn walks and Insta-friendly images, Mam Tor in Castleton is especially atmospheric in autumn while the trees in Padley Gorge are at their most colourful on fresh autumn days.
Then there is the extensive grounds and historic beauty of Chatsworth House. The stately country home is a great place to visit in autumn when the leaves turn rich colours and the gardens are full of vibrant flowers and vegetables.
Finally, the pretty town of Matlock Bath pulls out all the stops as the season changes, switching on their famous autumn event called the Matlock Bath Illuminations, which takes place in September and October.
Other places in the UK that are popular with lovers of the season include the Elan Valley in Mid Wales with its watery autumnal vistas, the village of Castle Combe in the Cotswolds where the chocolate box village glows in the golden hues and the National Trust’s Sheffield Park in East Sussex that is famous for its fiery autumn display.
