The UK is home to over 1,500 beaches, so it can be hard to narrow down which is the best. The best beach often depends on personal preference – while some prefer sandy shores, others prefer a pebble beach.
Families may want to visit a traditional seaside resort with plenty of amenities to enjoy.
However, a new study has aimed to narrow down some of the best beaches in the nation based on factors including Tripadvisor reviews and Google reviews by previous visitors.
According to the data, which was collected and analysed by Vape Superstore, Camusdarach Beach, in the Scottish Hebrides, is the UK’s best beach, ranking 98.4, with 3,400 Brits searching for it monthly.
You’ll find Camusdarach Beach just south of the estuary of River Morar. The beach is a curving bay of white sand with crystal clear waters, promising a destination that is stunning in all seasons of the year.
However, it’s the surrounding scenery that truly makes this beach and has resulted in it becoming a top filming location. From the shoreline, visitors can look out to incredible views.
Visit Scotland said: “With a spectacular view to the jagged crest of Cuillin on the Isle of Skye, the rugged blue peaks of Rum and the steep sea cliff of Eigg, Camusdarach is breathtaking.”
With a five-star rating on Tripadvisor, hundreds of visitors have taken to the platform to leave reviews. One visitor said the beach is “well worth a visit”, adding that it is “simply stunning”.
Another visitor wrote: “One of the most beautiful places on earth. And everyone you meet knows it too. Beautiful clear waters, big skies, and… sandy beaches, fresh sea air. Reinvigorates the senses and the soul.” [SIC]
Klieg is the closest town to the beach, and the shoreline can be reached via A830 “Road to the Isles” from Mallaig. There is car parking just a short walk through the dunes.
The clear water makes the spot great for those who like swimming, though there is no lifeguard service so swimmers should exercise caution.
