Brit tourists say they’ll ‘never go back’ to Spain over new drinks law

British tourists are set to snub Spanish Islands if the drinks ban at all inclusive getaways is enforced.

Spanish officials confirmed they would limit the amount of drinks tourists can have during a day when staying at all-inclusive hotels.

The limit is believed to be a maximum of six a day, with three drinks reserved for the afternoon and a further three to be used in the evening.

But Brits who frequent the holiday hotspots say they will not return if the ban remains in place. Regulations initially put in place in 2020 will be intensified this year as restrictions on late-night alcohol sales are placed.

Increased control on boat parties are set to follow and those whose usual past time on the Spanish Islands is enjoying a tipple have hit back at the potentially harsher restrictions.

A British TikTok user who lives in Spain, @youfoundstephen, asked his followers what they thought of the ban and some have since sworn off visiting the Spanish Islands ever again.

The rule applies to the following resorts: Magaluf in Majorca, Playa de Palma in Majorca, El Arenal in Majorca, and San Antonio in Ibiza. One fan of the holiday destinations wrote off the all inclusive holiday and say they have found alternate arrangements instead.

“With the new laws in Spain lately, I’ll never go back,” they fumed. Another claimed: “Will put an end to tourism, most people won’t pay the all inclusive price, and buy the over inflated booze prices in hotels.”

Others have found alternate holidaying destinations and properties to relax in, swearing off the all-inclusives entirely. “Stayed in airbnbs for years would never go back to a hotel,” one wrote.

Another added: “So it’s not ‘all inclusive… it’s ‘some inclusive’.” But some have seen the ban as a positive and suggested there is more to holidaying than drinking by the pool.

One wrote: “It would be fine for me as I don’t really drink but I think anyone wanting 20 alcoholic drinks in a day needs to rethink their life choices.” Another agreed, adding: “If your whole holidays about sitting round the pool getting drunk why bother going.”
