British man in Majorca missing again as desperate mum launches fresh appeal

Must read

A British man found after disappearing for over a week has now gone missing again in Majorca as his mother launches a new desperate search for him.

Ben Ross, 26, originally from Golbourne, Greater Manchester, was first reported missing on July 10 after an argument with his flatmates following the theft of his passport, phone and money.

Mum Felix Robinson jetted off to the popular Spanish island where he was finally found on July 22 showing signs of what she described as a possible mental breakdown.

She appealed for medical support but local health services currently require patients to display behaviour that puts either them or the wider public in danger before intervention.

They suggested he would need to voluntarily check in for treatment locally, prompting the mum-of-three to appeal to the Home Office and police to force him to board a flight back to England.

As Ms Robinson prepared to return to the UK again because of the high cost of accommodation in Majorca, Ben disappeared again on August 3.

She reported his disappearance again and the Spanish police have since launched a new search for the 26-year-old which has so far been unsuccessful.

Ms Robinson has since returned to the UK and proceeded to sell her possessions to raise further funds to return to Majorca as she seeks to avoid the attacks the family of Jay Slater faced during his search in Tenerife.

Friends of the woman have since launched a GoFundMe to help her fly back to the island and cover the costs of accommodation, which are currently at their peak because of the high holiday season.

Flights from the closest airport to Ms Robinson’s home to Palma de Majorca start from £200 one way, while only four accommodations are available with a starting price of £2,580.

Carla Speight told Express.co.uk: “Felix will put every penny she has into finding her son, she did that last time, we know with the astronomical costs she won’t be eating and drinking properly.

“Right now she is distraught, doing everything she can to find him and bring him home. She’s sold loads of her clothes just to pay for flights.”

Another friend, Anne Marie O’Neill, said: “Felix is the most dedicated mother I know, she adores her children and speaks with such pride about all three of them.

“She’s been going out of her mind with worry about Ben, doing everything she can in an impossible situation.”

Ms O’Neill added: “We just want to make sure our friend has a safe space to sleep and enough to get a hire car to find her son.

“In situations like this, no one has a backup plan for when a family member goes travelling, let alone experiences a breakdown abroad.

“No one thinks this will happen to them, no one has a spare pot of cash lying around in case this horrendous nightmare happens to them.

“Getting support is incredibly difficult and we are just making sure she has everything she needs to stay safe, find Ben and get him home”.
