Olympic medallist Amber Rutter says having her belongings stolen as she travelled home after being honoured with a UK Sport award has left her “truly devastated”.
The 27-year-old, who won skeet silver at Paris 2024, was recognised with an athlete comeback/breakthrough award in Manchester.
But Rutter’s possessions were stolen on her train journey to Reading – including the award and an item of personal significance – and she has asked for help to get them back.
Rutter posted on X: “Just had all my belongings stolen on my train back from Manchester Piccadilly to Reading, including my cartridge necklace that was given to me from my grandad when I was 12 years old and only took off as I broke the chain last night.”
The five-time world medallist added: “I’m truly devastated. If anyone is able to help in any way I would be truly grateful.”
Rutter, one of Britain’s most successful shooters, considered quitting the sport after she tested positive for Covid the night before she was supposed to fly to the Tokyo Olympics, where she was one of the favourites to take gold.
But she travelled to Paris, three months after giving birth to her son, to win her first Olympic medal.
After winning the UK Sport award, Rutter posted: “This recognition means so much to me after such a whirlwind career of challenges, perseverance and incredible highs. As always, thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way.”
