A British tourist has died after being pulled unconscious from the sea on the Greek island of Skiathos.

The 66-year-old woman was reportedly swimming at Achladies Beach iwhen she lost consciousness due to the heat.

CNN Greece reports that the Brit was on holiday and had gone to the beach from her hotel on Friday. She was soon spotted by a lifeguard, who pulled her to shore.

The lifeguard and a doctor performed CPR on the woman and she was taken to Skiathos Health Centre but they were unable to revive her.

The woman is expected to be transferred to Volos for an autopsy.

This comes just days after a British man drowned in Lake Como while on holiday with his girlfriend in Italy.

The man, 22, and his partner rented a boat on Wednesdays and struggled to swim back to it due to choppy waters caused by strong winds.

His girlfriend, 19, lost sight of her boyfriend and was rescued by a passing boat who saw her struggling.

She was exhausted and in shock but unharmed. A search was launched for the man and his body was spotted by a police helicopter.

Another tourist died in Greece earlier this month. The man, 33, got into difficulty while diving at a famous shipwreck and was pulled from the waters by another swimmer.

A coastguard official said: “He was swimming when the weather turned and it began to rain,

“A rescue boat and an ambulance were immediately sent but by the time they arrived he had been pulled out of the water unconscious.”
