British tourists fume over ‘disgusting’ Tunisia hotel and ‘can’t wait to leave’

Must read

British tourists who travelled to Tunisia have warned future visitors to avoid a “disgusting” budget hotel.

The Novostar Pyramides Hotel is a three-star hotel located in Nabeul, northeastern Tunisia.

On the country’s coast, the hotel is just a 12-minute walk from the beach by the Mediterranean Sea.

The website says the three-star hotel “features cosy rooms with modern facilities for a comfortable stay.”

It adds that the restaurant there offers “a large choice of regional specialities” and the “friendly entertainment team and the many activities taking place in the day around the swimming pool and at night mean you will have a relaxing stay in Nabeul.”

But some tourists who visited the hotel say that a lot was left to be desired during their stay.

One review on Trip Advisor from user Zoe B said: “Just returned from a 10-day all-inclusive. What can I say but please listen to the poor reviews! This hotel is so run down and really not fit for purpose.

“It is dirty the food is inedible. We had to eat out most days as the fight for food was unbearable, pushing and shoving my son just could not cope. There was food out in the morning from the evening before absolutely disgusting.

“We had to get moved three times due to no aircon, no running water, no electric etc. The only thing positive I would say are the animation team, they are what make the holiday. Shame really beautiful weather but very poor hotel.

“We did visit Hammamet with one of the animation team and what a huge difference. I would return to Tunisia but would stay in Hammamet area which has a beautiful sandy beach and is well set up for tourists. I would not return to this hotel or area.”

Another holidaymaker, who stayed at the hotel in August and wished to remain anonymous, told Express.co.uk: “The food was absolutely disgusting. It felt like the same food was being used several days in a row.

“We decided to eat out some nights as it was so awful, the breakfasts did not include any hot options other than pancakes, and there was no toast or cereal either.

“The bathrooms were dirty as well and some of the beds did not have any sheets. I’ve been to Tunisia before and stayed in a lovely hotel but this was awful. We couldn’t wait to get back to the UK.”

The hotel averages 3 stars out of 5 on Trip Advisor, and some who stayed there gave a more positive review.

User Donnamarie B said: “Was here with my son in July and was pleasantly surprised after reading previous reviews.

“I was unsure as to what we would get when we arrived, however, we had a great holiday room was clean and everything worked as it should. Pool was clean and fun. Food was really nice and always plenty of choices.

“Staff were very nice and helpful. The animation team was brilliant always popping over for a chat and checking we were enjoying ourselves getting us involved in daily activities and the entertainment at night was really good.

“They also offered to take us into town to the markets but we were happy staying by the pool as it was so hot. Overall we had a great time and both said we would happily return.

“This was a cheap holiday and wasn’t expecting much. If you’ve booked this hotel along as you are happy with basic accommodation and don’t expect too much then you will have a lovely holiday…definitely do not let negative reviews put you off.”
