Brits sent huge travel warning as tourists heading to Europe brace for delays

Must read

Wizz Air has issued a travel warning for customers, advising that flight delays may persist throughout the summer due to “airport slot management issues” caused by extreme weather conditions.

These disruptions are expected to continue over the coming months.

The airline explained that these delays are beyond its control but offered an apology to affected customers.

Extreme weather has impacted flights for many airlines across Europe, including Wizz Air, which has experienced over 30,000 additional airport slot delay minutes in the past four weeks compared to the same period last year.

This comes as Ryanair has also recently reported flight disruptions due to widespread thunderstorm activity, advising passengers to check their app for real-time updates on flight statuses and next steps.

Customers who booked directly with Wizz Air will receive updates on schedule changes via text and email.

In related travel news, those heading to Italy for outdoor activities have been warned about bear sightings in the Trentino region.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) advised hikers to be aware of what to do if they encounter a brown bear.

“If you are planning on hiking in the Trentino region, read what to do if you see a brown bear”, the statement read.

“Bears usually avoid contact with humans because they perceive them as a danger. However, if you are visiting an area where they are native, it is important to know what to do in case of an encounter.”

Additionally, travelers to Greece and France have been advised to stay alert for extreme weather conditions and other disruptions.

Greece is expecting adverse weather, including floods, while France will host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will likely attract over 15 million tourists and require heightened awareness of personal safety and belongings.
