Shoppers could save up to £25.42 on a basket of essentials compared with the priciest supermarket included in the analysis
Aldi has been crowned the cheapest supermarket for the 13th month in a row by Which?, with savings of up to £25.43 compared to Waitrose on a basket of essentials. That means Waitrose shoppers could save over £100 by the end of December simply by switching to Aldi.
Research by consumer group Which? has found that Aldi was yet again the cheapest supermarket for a basket of 55 essential items this month. The total price of a weekly shop at the discount retailer came in at £97.89 – less than all of the supermarkets, including Tesco, which it was £10.56 cheaper than, Sainsbury’s, which it was £14.17 cheaper than, and Waitrose, where the price gap was a huge £25.43.
The new research from Which? marks 13 months that Aldi has been consistently crowned the cheapest supermarket by the consumer champion. Its prices can’t be beaten, even by shoppers using a Tesco Clubcard, Sainsbury’s Nectar or the Lidl Plus app.
