Europe’s top MMA organisation Cage Warriors returns to the North East this weekend for the vacant featherweight title.
A magician from Middlesbrough, Harry ‘Houdini’ Hardwick takes on a short notice replacement in Orlando Wilson Prins. The Dutchman stepped up in place of Zafar Mohsen who had to pull out due to visa issues. Prins jumped at the opportunity because his own opponent Milad Ahady sustained an injury in training forcing his withdrawal from their bout in Newcastle. Hardwick aims to make history and join his brother George Hardwick as a Cage Warriors champion. His brother was due to defend his lightweight title in March however suffered a severe injury in training and he is still on the road to recovery.
In the co main event James Power makes a quick return to the cage as he faces the debuting Daniel Kolasiński. Power got back in the win column 10 weeks ago in Manchester against Gianluca Rocca. As his name suggests and his 83% knockout rate proves there is lethal finishing ability and a quick finish here could land a title shot next. Also on the card, Kennedy Freeman is back in Newcastle the daughter of the legendary Ian Freeman is 4-0. She won her Cage warriors debut in great fashion with a first round TKO over Annabruna Rados.
Ones to watch include American KO Artist Chasen Blair hunting for another lightning quick finish and a pair of exciting British bantamweight prospects making their Cage Warriors debuts. Joe Fields is 1-0 as a pro after an excellent amateur career and Jack Humphries is making his pro debut on the big stage at only 20 years old. Expect huge performances and statements from both men.
