If you’re on the hunt for the perfect family-friendly staycation spot this school holiday, look no further than Leicestershire.

According to a recent survey by Outdoor Toys, it’s been voted one of the best UK counties for a budget-friendly visit with children.

The study analysed various British counties, taking into account factors such as the number of child-friendly restaurants, entertainment options and hotel prices.

Leicestershire in the East Midlands emerged victorious due to its affordability and wide range of activities for kids.

With three water and amusement parks and an impressive 128 child-friendly eateries per 100 square km, parents won’t have to worry about keeping their little ones entertained or fed.

And when it comes to accommodation, the average weekend hotel price is just £80 per night – the lowest of all the counties surveyed.

Staffordshire came in a close second, with hotel prices averaging around £84 per night. It also offers a wealth of kid-friendly attractions, including four zoos and aquariums and eight water and theme parks.

Plus, with 106 child-friendly restaurants per square km, there’s no chance of your family going hungry, reports the Mirror.

Securing the third spot is Kent, fondly referred to as the Garden of England, thanks to its breathtaking strawberry orchards and sprawling gardens.

But it’s not all about leisurely strolls in nature – Kent also offers a variety of adventure parks to keep the more energetic children entertained.

With an average hotel price of £88 on a weekend night, accommodation costs are slightly on the rise, but it’s still a great value for a weekend getaway.
